Lucuma is a native fruit of the Andes in Peru. The use of Lucuma dates from pre-Inca times (Inca empire). In the cities along the coast and in the highlands of Peru Lucuma was used as health food (proofs are the images on the vessels of the Moche culture). They grow at an altitude of 1,500 to 3,000 meters above sea level.
